Jubilee steps up for Mixtape Club 003 - an hour of breakneck golden-era rave material from the FL underground.
Drawing from her South Florida upbringing, Jubilee runs through a frankly dizzying selection of breaks 'n' beats from the unique dance subculture that grew out of the state's very own Summer of love in '89 - with more recent Anz and Salva records slid in for good measure.
In Jubilee's words: "This mix is mostly made up of the songs that I started hearing at raves in South Florida when I first started going out during my brand new love affair with electronic music, mixed with a few newer songs in that remind me of that time".
“When I first started going to hear DJs I just knew a lot of these songs to be local hits where I was from, and tracklists didn’t exist on most mixtapes, so it wasn’t until years later that I was able to identify some of them after i got to the point where I was collecting music. I think I have a special relationship with them because I knew them from dance floors only. Most of my productions go back to these sounds as they are my biggest inspirations. I hope you enjoy.”
After a full year without dancing, this mixtape is a perfectly pitched reminder of how vital rave music can be; immediate, fearless and sincere, there's not a trace of cynicism or posturing present. Here's to another summer of love on the horizon.
